Muscat – The mercury is set to drop by 5-8°C in many parts of the sultanate with the onset of northwesterly winds hitting Oman starting from January 20.

The weather disturbance will continue for some days, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

A statement issued by CAA said, ‘Northwesterly winds of about 15 to 30 knots will be felt throughout the sultanate. Waves of 2-4m height will rise across Musandam, Oman Sea and the Arabian Sea.’

The authority also cautioned that dust storms, especially in open areas and the desert, will lead to low and poor visibility.
