Abu Dhabi, UAE: March 17, 2014 - Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy company, has achieved Gold certification accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply following a rigorous certification process. Launched by the Abu Dhabi leadership in 2006, Masdar's mandate is to advance renewable energy through education, R&D, investment and commercialization.
During CIPS' evaluation process, Masdar's procurement team demonstrated excellence and leading edge performance with its policies, processes and systems along with demonstrating best practice performance measurement and management as evaluated by the certification audit. Masdar joins companies such as Zurich Financial Services in its gold-level success and an additional 360 organisations worldwide who have achieved standard, gold or platinum CIPS certification. Leading companies who have also achieved CIPS certification include Accenture, Johnson Controls, Microsoft and Veolia.
David Noble, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, said: "Since working with Masdar, the company has shown a significant amount of improvement over the past year. I am pleased to say that they have become one of CIPS' leading organisations and therefore deservedly received our CIPS Corporate Certification Gold Award.
"Masdar provided a story of an organisation that has demonstrated great innovations, particularly in the green sustainability area, and we have certainly seen areas of excellence in particular within the leadership and organisation dimension," continued Mr. Noble.
Mr. Noble presented the certificate to Mr. Mohamed Al Ramahi, Chief Operating Officer and Ms. Zuha Abdul Rahman Moussa, Head of Procurement and Contracts at Masdar, on 30 January 2014.
"We are excited to receive CIPS' gold-level certification, which underlines Masdar's drive towards more responsible and sustainable procurement," said Zuha Moussa, Head of Procurement of Contracts. "As a cornerstone of our commitment to sustainable development and renewable energy, Masdar's procurement team is pleased to be recognized along with some of the world's most respected companies after completing its rigorous certification process."
CIPS Corporate Certification is an independent, procurement-specific process to assess the efficiency of procurement and supply management teams working to achieve corporate goals.
