UAE telecom providers du and Etisalat (e&) have signed a corporation agreement with Abu Dhabi-listed developer Aldar Properties.

Under the master developer agreement (MDA), the firms will deliver telecommunications infrastructure for Aldar’s projects in line with the UAE’s Taawun initiative, according to a statement on Monday.

Du and Etisalat will install, maintain and oversee state-of-the-art fixed telecom services and solutions across Aldar’s developments in Abu Dhabi, including Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Al Raha and Reem Island. The projects also include government housing and infrastructure developments.

Taawun seeks to support the government’s vision in developing smart infrastructure and provide customers an opportunity to select their operator of choice for their telecom needs.

“Through the development of advanced telecom infrastructure, Aldar residents will be able to choose their own service provider and have access to the latest fiber-optics and advanced 5G communication solutions,” the statement said.

“This will help transform these communities into smart, sustainable and high-quality-of-life areas for their residents with modern ways of living.”

Aldar has recently launched its latest project, a sustainable community in Abu Dhabi to cash in on the growing demand for eco-friendly living options.

The Sustainable City project on Yas Island achieved 100% sales within 24 hours of its public launch.
