Ashjar delivers intimate and serene community living amongst the tree tops of Dubai's premier desert oasis

Dubai, 17 December 2015

Al Barari, the green heart of Dubai, is delighted to announce that 75% of its Ashjar collection is sold out and now only 52 of the 203 elegant homes remain available for purchase.  Construction of the 13 low rise, low density buildings began in May 2015. They include one, two and three bedroom large apartments. With 36% of the project now complete, the first set of keys will be handed over in December 2017. Each cluster is separated by dense forest, creating secluded havens with the perfect balance of community and privacy, amongst Al Barari's 18.42 million sq ft secluded paradise, where over 80% of the area is exclusively set aside to nature.

Martyn Crook, Al Barari's CEO of Asset Management commented: "We are very pleased with the significant interest that the Ashjar residences have attracted. Al Barari has targeted a different segment of the market with this unique proposition of spacious luxury apartment living surrounded by nature, which truly is a gap in the market. We are already very well recognised for the quality of villa living in Al Barari, so our Ashjar project together with the other exciting prospects for Al Barari's stunning phase 2, will introduce us to a much wider audience with a tailored solution for all residents. Al Barari is the market leader for integrated luxury living and active eco-conscious development in the region.  We are thoroughly looking forward to opening the next chapter for the flourishing and exclusive Al Barari estate. More detailed information on Phase 2 will be announced in the New Year."

Ashjar, meaning trees in Arabic, is part of Al Barari's ambitious and visionary phase 2, which aims to bring Al Barari to a wider audience. Spacious luxury apartments in the iconic Seven Heaven building and the exquisite family villas at The Nest, will exist alongside a world class boutique hotel, dining venues, retail including a floating market, and education, assisted living and medical facilities. Phase 1 saw the successful handover of the majority of The Residences and The Reserve, and the opening of the plant nursery, Green Works, the phenomenally successful restaurant The Farm, the health club Body language and the Heart & Soul spa.

Ashjar has a distinctive 'canopy living' design by architects 10 Design, which maximizes the natural light, with cascading terraces.  Connecting with nature is a key feature of Ashjar, maintaining the oasis-like forest environment, so the small community of 13 buildings is built into the landscape as if they are native to the land. The rich layering of trees provides a distinct experience for residents, while the top floor residences enjoys  tree-top canopy view, the lower floors will experience shade underneath the natural green canopy whilst retaining natural daylight. Their tranquil gardens will feature meandering streams and gentle waterfalls.

There are three categories, which cater to different lifestyles, thus providing greater choice to buyers in selecting a home that suits their personality and routine.  The interiors include luxury finishing's, a trade mark of Al Barari, such as porcelain and ceramic tiles in the bathroom, kitchen and formal areas, marble tops in the kitchen with high specification Miele appliances. The residences boast underground parking, children's playground and 24/7 security. Materials will be sourced as sustainably and as locally as possible, and the intent is that local suppliers and manufactures will be used for all internal and external finishes.

Guided by the passionate founder and chairman, Mr. Zaal Mohammad Zaal, Al Barari's vision of an exceptional botanic haven for people to enjoy, unrivalled in its ecological sensitivity, has been realised.  It is this vision that continues to propel Al Barari forward to unveil new and unique products like Ashjar. Al Barari is undoubtedly becoming the benchmark for sustainable luxury in the region.

About Al Barari:
First envisioned by Emirati businessman Mr. Zaal Mohammad Zaal in 2005, Al Barari is the flagship development of the Zaal family. Literally meaning 'wilderness', Al Barari was designed to be a true desert oasis. Eighty percent of the development is made up of green space that envelopes 189 Al Barari residences and bespoke luxury villas of The Reserve. Ashjar, a collection of 203 elegant apartments in three distinctive categories, Seventh Heaven, an exceptional collection of 157 homes including exclusive duplexes, penthouses, sky villas and garden homes, and The Nest, a collection of 99 family-style villas, are currently under development. The estate features its own health club, Body Language and signature restaurant, The Farm as well as Heart & Soul spa. A total of six themed gardens with over 16.4 kilometres of naturally landscaped lakes, freshwater streams, cascades and waterways make Al Barari the lowest density development in the UAE and more akin to a botanical garden than a residential community. Garden maintenance and landscaping services are provided onsite by Al Barari's green arm, Green Works.
