Muscat: There has been an increase of 6.1 per cent in the number of schools in the 2019/2020 academic year, and an increase of 4.8 per cent in the number of students enrolled in the Sultanate's schools.

A statement issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, (NCSI), said: “The total number of schools in the Sultanate reached 2,046 for the 2019/2020 academic year, an increase of 6.1 per cent compared to the 2018/2019 academic year. It contained 31,812 classes.

“71,469 is the total number of teachers in the Sultanate's schools and 843,598 is the total number of students, up 4.8 per cent compared to the academic year 2018/2019. An average of 27 students for each class,” the statement added.
