Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) is expected to award the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for four main substations - Rumaithiya C, Salmiya X, Egaila Entertainment Projects G and Salwa E - by the first quarter of 2023, according to a source.

“The EPC contract is expected to be awarded by end of March 2023,” a source aware of the project details told Zawya Projects, adding that the tender was issued on 21 November 2021 and the bid submission deadline was extended multiple times before settling on 3 January 2023.

The scope of work involves the construction, supply and installation of four 132/11 kV main substations, he said.

A second source said 15 companies were prequalified for the project, adding that completion is slated for the fourth quarter of 2025.

He estimated the total project value at $70 million
