Visitors from Mexico can now travel to the UAE without applying for a visa, it has been announced.

The UAE Government revealed on social media on Tuesday that, aside from the five-year multi-entry tourist visa for all nationalities, it is granting entry permit waivers to Mexican travellers as well.

“[The government] exempts Mexican nationals from the state entry permit,” the tweet reads.

The government, however, did not provide any details, including certain requirements or conditions that travelers from the North American state need to meet.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had announced on Monday that visit visas in the UAE will now be issued for five years.

“Today, we change the system of issuing tourist visas in the country, to make the duration of the tourist visa for five years, multiple uses, for all nationalities,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

The tourist visas were previously valid for 30 to 90 days.

Residents of Mexico are among the 21 million tourists that visit the UAE every year.

According to Emirates, Dubai is increasing in popularity with Mexican travellers as it is home to several attractive offerings including shopping, architecture and iconic landmarks.

The UAE-based carrier has just recently launched its inaugural daily service from Dubai to Mexico City via Barcelona. The first Emirates passenger flight to Mexico touched down on December 10, 2019.

The new service is expected to generate more demand and enhance business, culture and leisure connections as well as boost tourism and commerce between the two markets, according to Salem Obaidalla, Emirates senior vice president for commercial operations, Americas.
