MANAMA: A total of 90 services provided by the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry are free of charge, it has been revealed.

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry is providing 65 free services with Supreme Council for Environment (54 services) and Transportation and Telecommunication Ministry (51 services) following close behind.

Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said the number of cancelled service fees reached 400 covering 16 government bodies.

It followed orders of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to cancel the fees for various government services across various government entities.

Customs Affairs, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority have each cancelled one service fee, said the minister.

Legislation and legal opinion commission scrapped fees for 36 services, followed by Survey and Land Registration Bureau (21 services), Interior Ministry (16 services), Information & e-Government Authority (14), National Health Regulatory Authority and Education Ministry (seven services each) and Labour and Social Development Ministry and Information Affairs Ministry (two each), he added.

He was speaking in reply to a question by MP Ibrahim Al Nafea about the number of cancelled government service fees.
