Dubai International was praised as one of the world’s biggest international airports in a tweet on Monday by Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also promised that Dubai would fly again and singled out Emirates as a 'unique success story in global aviation'.

"Past experiences have strongly motivated us to work hard & succeed. We will emerge stronger & more determined than before, and show the world a model of flexibility, and ability to overcome crises and transform challenges into opportunities," the crown prince tweeted.

Emirates has been operating limited services since the pandemic grounded passenger flights in March. It currently flies to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Chicago, Toronto, Sydney and Melbourne. Emirates president Tim Clark hopes Dubai will open to tourists on July 1.

"I think probably by the year 2022 / 23, 2023 / 24 we will see things coming back to some degree of normality and Emirates will be operating its network as it was and hopefully as successfully as it was,” Clark said during a virtual talk at the Arabian Travel Market.
