Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) has awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services contract to WorleyParsons Arabia and JESA International for the construction of Phase 1 of its Phosphate 3 complex project.
The value of the 42-month contract is 1.043 billion Saudi riyals ($278 million), the mining company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange.
When complete, Phosphate 3 will produce 1.5 metric tonnes per year of phosphate fertilisers, the statement said, adding that the integrated production complex will be built in Wa’ad Al Shamal and Ras Al-Khair industrial cities.
In August 2022, Maaden said it expected to complete phases 1 and 2 of its Phosphate 3 complex in 2025 and 2027, respectively.
