Participation from international Arab communities at an all time high
The Ideal Arab Mother and Family Awards committee has reported that participation from Arab communities based in international countries has been at an all time high.
Elham Abbas, Corporate Communications Director, Dubai Shopping Festival said, “The Ideal Arab Mother and Family Awards are an enduring symbol of the social, ethical and cultural values of the Festival and it rewards the highest and the purest moral values in familial relationships. The Holy month of Ramadan promotes similar values, and the general ambience of the month is expected to encourage higher participation in the Awards, held under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister.
“This year we have also used several conventional and non-conventional communication channels to promote the Awards, the last date for submission of application forms to which is November 30, 2003. The Saudi Research and Publishing Group, one of the leading publishing groups within the region is also co-operating with us in promoting and publicizing the two Awards in its group publications. Given the widespread impact of the advertising campaigns and the promotional effort, we have received several enquiries from Arab families living in the United States of America and Canada as well.
“Several applications have also been received from Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Morroco.”
This year the Awards Committee has also targeted educational institutions through a concerted effort aimed at the teachers, who in turn promote the Awards to the student community.
Moreover, the newly created advertising campaign, also serves as a reminder for the people to participate in the Awards.
The winner of the Ideal Arab Mother and the Ideal Arab Family will each receive $10,000. The Ideal Arab Mother competition is open to women not less than 45 years of age.
The Awards take into consideration five basic parameters: (1) Psychological Aspect which will dwell on the candidate’s personality and approach to life, (2) Social interaction which will assess her relationship with people around her, including neighbours, (3) Family ties, including relationship with husband, children and in-laws and (4) Approach to education: her own education as well as that of children (5) Religious criteria which looks at how the mother imbibed religious values in her children during their upbringing.
