Academy opens premises at Dubai Industrial City Offering a Variety of Industrially Focused Technical Training Courses

Dubai - Dubai Industrial City today announced the opening of the premises of the Dubai Industrial Academy (DIA), a dedicated vocational training centre, to provide industrial training solutions and serve the growing needs of the region's industrial sector.

The Dubai Industrial Academy will commence its operation with 199 short-term courses on offer, adopting an 'inclusive approach' and providing a mix of class room teaching and hands-on practical skills training at its dedicated premises at DI.

The curriculum will offer courses covering industrial areas related to oil and gas, mechnical engineering, Quality, Health, safety and the Environment (QHSE), electrical and power engineering, instrumentation, chemical process and laboratory operations, construction, and technical and supervisory development.

All the courses offered will primarily serve six major industrial sectors - food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment industries - the same six zones that Dubai Industrial City focuses on.

Announcing the opening of the Dubai Industrial Academy, Rashed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Industrial City, said: "Our primary objective for the Dubai Industrial Academy is to provide continuous training to entrepreneurs and the workforce, to help them professionally serve this sector. Through industry specific educational opportunities, we will nurture local and regional talent as well as encourage emerging entrepreneurs to invest their capabilities in diverse industrial sectors.

"Our partnership with UK-based Technical Training Group (TTE) will enable us to leverage their extensive experience of over many years in industrial training, while creating a dynamic and vocational education training centre at the Dubai Industrial City." Al Ansari added.

DIA will provide advice and cater to the specific training requirements of companies and corporations. A total of 18 programmes have been selected with fixed timelines to allow individuals to enroll in advance.

Keith Hunter, Managing Director TTE added that his Group decided to partner Dubai Industrial City (DIC) in the set up of DIA as the city represents the future of the industrial development in the emirate and is one of the largest projects undertaken by Dubai.

Hunter added that DIA will offer focused training and consultancy services in Apprentice, Technician and Graduate Skills Development; Design and Operation of Technical Training Centres; Training Consultancy Services and Operations, industrially focused short Courses.

"These courses will help position DIA as the industrial training academy of choice across the UAE and the region as it offers programmes that meet the needs of the market and help promote and boost the skills of the people working in the industrial sector," Hunter concluded.

Located adjacent to the Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central) and close to Jebel Ali Port, with easy access to major highways, the 560 million square feet Dubai Industrial City is a dedicated industrial destination comprising six industrial zones including food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.
