Muscat – To ensure connectivity and network coverage in its operating blocks, CC Energy Development S.A.L (CCED) added a new telecommunication tower at its Shahd Camp, located in Eastern Central Oman. The construction of the tower also serves the local community by providing and enhancing mobile services.
The 60m tall tower hosts services that include TETRA and 4G networks from all service providers. The infrastructure utilizes modern information processes to transfer real-time operational data to the employees who work off-site, which advances remote field management. Internal Service Providers Ooredoo and OmanTel are using the Shahd tower to cover CCED requirements and also reach nearby communities.
Javed Dalwai, Head of Information Systems, Technology & Telecom at CCED said, “Installing a new telecommunication tower at Shahd Camp is part of our strategy to drive digital transformation. We believe that state-of-the-art telecom services have direct and indirect benefits to our operations and the community at large. For example, with internet, mobile apps, VoIP and other means of communication, our team can exchange information in real time and stay connected to our partners and clients. Having these technologies in place, can also reduce operational costs, and increase productivity across all departments.”
Given the high demand on telecom services in the Sultanate, CCED previously built telecommunication towers in its Blocks 3 and 4. The addition of the new tower offers the local community improved connectivity, while also supporting the government’s efforts to ensure better access to information, encourage innovation and promote e-learning.
Since the beginning of its operations in 2007, CCED has been focused on community and people development by utilizing the latest technologies and offering its team the best facilities and services to excel. The new telecommunication tower also contributes to the development of the area by optimizing network coverage, and providing opportunities for telecom operators to accelerate the rollout of new wireless technology. The company is committed to continue improving day-to-day processes, while also benefiting the local community.
