RIYADH The Saudi Ministry of Culture has signed a memorandum of joint cooperation with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen in response to the Yemeni government's request to help preserve the country's cultural heritage, support cultural efforts in Yemen, and protect its vulnerable monuments.

As part of the agreement, the Saudi government will work in collaboration with relevant organizations and in coordination with the Yemeni government and the local authority to support and preserve Yemeni heritage and monuments. This is in addition to rehabilitating and developing Yemeni capabilities in the cultural field to advance the cultural, economic, and social movements in Yemen.

The agreement was signed virtually on Monday by Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, and Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, general supervisor of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY).

According to the memorandum, the Ministry of Culture will work in cooperation with the SDRPY in implementing innovative cultural programs compatible with all groups and segments of Yemeni society. These programs include developing the efficiency and quality of cultural installations and facilities in Yemen, besides advancing Yemeni capabilities in various cultural fields, to ensure the growth of the Yemeni cultural activity, and to ensure its sustainability and endurance through the subversive operations carried out by Al-Houthi militias in several Yemeni sites.

The memorandum of cooperation comes with the aim of providing the necessary support to our neighbors Yemen and in furtherance of the efforts of the Saudi government to harness all potentials to support the Yemeni government.

The Ministry of Culture will provide support in cultural fields and the protection of heritage and historical sites through the SDRPY, which works, according to its scope of responsibility, with the Yemeni government to achieve development and reconstruction in Yemen, achieve living and economic balance, improve the quality of life through various projects and development programs focused on enhancing the infrastructure, and develop the society in all Yemeni governorates.
