AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) renovated three public parks and opened a new park in Um Al Summaq on Sunday.

Amman Mayor Yousef Al Shawarbeh said that the opening of the parks was scheduled before Eid Al Adha for people to enjoy the park during the holiday.

There are currently 143 public parks in Amman, which serve over four million Amman residents, according to the Department of Statistics.

GAM renovated the pavement, the kids’ play areas, the courts and planted more trees throughout the park, said a statement from the municipality. According to GAM, they added sand boxes to the kids’ areas, to help children develop fine motor skills.

The first renovated park is in Jabal Amman, the second in the Basman area and the third in Tareq, according to the GAM statement.
