Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development announced new opening hours for shops, according to the decision of the Supreme Committee for Shop Licensing Public Shops, the ministry said in a statement.

Winter opening hours for shops, cafes and restaurants, will be enforced starting from September 30th until the last Friday of April 2022.

All shops and malls will open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, with the hours extending to 11:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and holidays.

Restaurants, cafes, and bazaars, including those that are located inside malls, will open from 5:00 am to midnight, with takeaway and delivery services allowed to operate 24 hours a day.

All workshops and craft shops within residential areas will open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, except for the workshops on roads and gas stations, as well as workshops associated with urgent services for the citizen.

Grocery stores, supermarkets, and bakeries are excluded from these hours, in consideration of necessary nighttime operations.

The opening and closing hours of shops located in the coastal and tourist governorates may be modified by a decision of the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Licensing Public Shops based on the proposal of the competent governor or the head of the New Urban Communities Authority.
