The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) launched a new counter at Expo Centre Sharjah on Monday. The service centre will provide services for 65,000 customers from Al Nahda, Mamzar, Al Khan and Al Tawun areas in Sharjah.

The centre functions from 7.30am to 8.30pm during the seven days of the week. The move is part of Sewa's comprehensive plan to achieve happiness for the customers by providing easy, quick and efficient and quality services.

The opening of the centre was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, and Rashid Al Leem, chairman of Sewa.

Dr Al Leem said that the new centre is designed to provide distinguished services for the elderly and people with special needs and ensure the completion of formalities in minutes. It is also equipped with cameras to follow the progress of quality and efficiency required to achieve the satisfaction of the customers.

He stressed that the development plan is carried out in cooperation with a number of specialised companies in the field of facilitation and achievements. The development plan will continue to include all 10 customer service centres in Sharjah, which will be operational by 2018.

He added that the Expo Centre has been selected for the new counter because of its easy access and availability of parking spaces for the four densely populated areas. The centre includes specialised technical staff and advanced equipment.

The services offered at the centre comprise collecting consumer bills, closing and opening accounts, disconnection and connection services, meter checking requests, contract documentation and customer care services.
