RIYADH The Ministry of Commerce has directed agents of electrical appliances and electronic devices as well as major retail stores to install toll free number 800 to receive calls and complaints from consumers, without charging any connection fee from them.

This is part of the second phase of the initiative, launched by the ministry, in cooperation with the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), to raise the level of quality of services provided to consumers, especially those related to receiving complaints or improving after-sales services.

The Ministry of Commerce has released the toll-free numbers for agents and distributors of electronic and communications devices and major retail stores.

It also released the toll-free numbers for agents and distributors of household electrical appliances so as to enable consumers to safeguard their rights and to ensure that they obtain services without incurring any financial costs.

This is out of the keenness of the ministry and CITC, the telecom regulator, to provide fair trading environment and the best services for consumers.

It is noteworthy that the ministry, in cooperation with CITC, had recently launched the first phase of the initiative, by obligating car dealerships to install toll-free number to receive customer complaints, without paying connection fee by consumers.
