PARIS- A French court on Thursday ordered Vivendi's pay TV unit Canal Plus  to honor its sub-licensing contract with Qatari-owned beIN Sports over Ligue 1 soccer broadcasting rights or face a penalty of 1 million euros per day, two sources close to the matter said.

The yearly contract, which runs until 2024, amounts to 332 million euros, sources have told Reuters.

A spokesperson for Vivendi's Canal Plus division declined to comment on the court ruling.
