Dubai Industrial City, one of the largest industrial hubs in region, announced on Wednesday the completion of major construction and infrastructure projects.

The industrial park said in a press statement that it has invested 410 million UAE dirhams ($111.6 million) to complete highway extension and worker accommodation projects.

The statement said the completion of two extensions to Emirates Road will give heavy trucks direct access to the major highway linking Abu Dhabi with the Northern Emirates, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The total length of the road network in the industrial hub stands at 127 kilometres.

A new 14,000-bed worker accommodation village has increased the total number of available beds to more than 56,000, the statement said.

Saud Abu Al Shawareb, Managing Director of Dubai Industrial City, said: "As a strategic driver and enabler of the Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030, we have continued to invest significantly in the development of our world-class infrastructure to strengthen our status as a global platform for knowledge-based, sustainable and innovative industries."

According to the statement, since its inception in 2004, Dubai Industrial City has seen indirect investments of more than 8.4 billion dirhams ($2.3 billion) to create a hub for light and medium manufacturing sector.

Dubai Industrial City is responsible for food and beverage, and machinery and equipment subsectors within Dubai's 2030 industrial strategy.
