Dubai: MAZ Chartered Accountants, the region's leading audit, taxation, financial and management consultancy, held its 5th MAZ Annual Seminar, bringing top decision makers and thought leaders from the finance and accounting sphere on a common platform for thought sharing and paving the road ahead in a rapidly transforming business ecosystem. The seminar was held at Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai.

In the last 5 years, since its inception, the annual seminar has become one of the most authoritative and anticipated industry events in the region. It offers a unique opportunity for industry professionals to gain market insights, discuss pressing issues, share knowledge and build a stronger network. Upholding its legacy, the event was packed with powerful talks on various topics concerning key developments in finance and accounting.

Ghazanfar Jaffri, Business Development Manager, MAZ, said, “Finance and accounts play a more strategic role in today’s business landscape; and with every sector adopting digitization, our industry is undergoing a massive transformation. It is imperative to bring industry leaders and professionals together on a common platform to share knowledge and experiences. MAZ Go Business Seminar, an annual tradition, is aimed at doing just that. From cyber security to new-age finance management, this year’s speakers shed light on some of the most important aspects of our industry.”

During the seminar, Mansoor Khan, Business Development Director, FS Global Dubai, discussed the changing face of leadership in a contemporary business environment.  This was followed by an interesting talk on ‘Financial Management in the Modern Age’ by Imran Hasnain, Lecturer, National Institute of Vocational Education. Pete Mahon, Partner, Business Improvement Group, shared insights and ideas on dealing with the next generation of cyber threats.

“The talks, delivered by top industry leaders, provided invaluable insights and perspectives on various aspects of a rapidly evolving business environment. As we are nearing one year of VAT (Value Added Tax) implementation in the UAE, the seminar also served as a platform to gauge its impact”, Jaffri added.

The seminar featured insightful presentations on ‘Tax Audit and VAT Inspection’ by Zafar Ali, Senior Auditor, MAZA CA, ‘Impact of VAT on Micro Economic Aspects’ by Wasif Ghani, Head of Boys Department – British International School and ‘GDPR’s implications for businesses in the UAE’ by Peter Whately, Partner, Business Improvement Group.

MAZ is the founding member of the XLNC, an association of independent accounting, law and management consulting practices from across the globe. The company is also a member of The German Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK), the first bilateral federal business organization in the Gulf.
