The Ministry of Education has issued a decision to exempt some groups from registration fees in public schools, and to reduce the fees by 50% for the children of expats employees at the Ministry. The decision was announced in the official Gazette issued by the Ministry of Justices and Legal Affairs on Sunday.

According to Ministry of Education Resolution No. 32/2023 specifying fees for services provided by the Ministry of Education, the registration fee for expat students to benefit from the Ministry's services in government schools is OMR 50.

Service Fee Exemption

The decision stipulates that non-Omani students in government schools shall be exempted from service fees from the following categories:

A - Students who are children of Omani women married to non-Omani men.

B - Students from the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, on the condition of reciprocity.

C - Students who do not hold identification documents confirming their nationality, provided that the exemption is limited to students of schools specified by the Ministry of Education in the border areas.

D - Students from the Republic of Yemen.

2- Children of expats working in the Ministry of Education are exempted by 50% of the value of the fee mentioned.

3- Students from social security families, students in the Al-Kifah Center in the Central Prison in Samail State, and the Al-Hour Center in Al-Khuwair affiliated to the Juvenile Affairs Department of the Ministry of Social Development are exempted from registration fees for adult education, which ranges from OMR 5 to OMR 50, depending on the age groups.
