To Educate Companies and Government Institutions About The Importance Of Security Protection For Their Websites

Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. 12, May 2009 - The Innovative Solutions Company, a company which is specialized in Information Security and protection, has launched its second Awareness Campaign for this year. This campaign comes within the framework of the company's Awareness Program which targets the business sector under the title "Security Preparedness in the Era of Electronic Commerce".

The Program aims to enhance security awareness among the targeted group so that they avoid risks of piracy and incursion on their security information and data, particularly the sectors which operate without a clear strategy on the adequate security protection for their Web sites or those who need to fill security gaps, especially that expenditure on information technology and communications in the Kingdom has increased this year.

These lectures will be delivered at 25th of May in Makarem Hall, Marriott Hotel, Riyadh. The lectures will be delivered by a number of Saudi experts and foreign specialists in the field of information security and protection. This comes as a result of the rise in web piracy and infringements, whereby recent studies have indicated that Saudi Arabia accounted for 72% of security threats that took place in the Gulf Region.

The lectures on information security awareness come within the framework of the Company's Plan for security awareness on the dangers of piracy and infringements on websites which was launched by Innovative Solutions Company at the beginning of this year.

Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Shetwey, the Chief Executive of Innovative Solutions Company, said on this occasion "the launching of this awareness campaign reflects the importance of security protection of Websites. Our responsibility and firm Commitment towards our community is to develop the filtering and communications sectors in the Kingdom by way of transfer of global knowledge and experience to the industry of information security in the Kingdom, and the support of government institutions and organizations and the banking sector in order to be able to protect the digital content to enable them contribute significantly to improving their  performance level especially in light of the economic boom experienced by the Kingdom today, and the strategic inclination of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to establish an advanced knowledge society."

The Executive went on to say "the importance of these lectures lies on the themes of the discussion presented by the lecturers where we will be able to give a close look to the new security solutions and techniques used in the Information Technology World, particularly in the area of information security, which is facing today great challenges under the global economic crisis by intruders and hackers of websites of companies and organizations whereby these incursions of course, adversely affect the electronic trading and user confidence in electronic trading, especially that the number of Internet users in the Kingdom has grown to about 7.7 million by the end of 2008 according to statistics of the communications and information technology. So, we will discuss the importance of activating the security protection and how to apply it in accordance with the global standards and requirements so as to reduce the electronic intrusions, as well as how to apply the requirements and procedures that qualify for receiving the ISO 27001 certificate for information security. "

CEO Al Shetwey continued, "the Electronic commerce has become part of Saudi society's life, especially after the announcement by the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques some years ago that electronic trading transactions have been introduced to contribute in improving the performance of the Saudi economy and its growth and that it was time to drift towards electronic commerce.

The volume of electronic commercial transactions of Saudis only exceeded 12 billion dollars annually and it is in the increase, this requires that all these business transactions through the Internet must be secure enough because there are hefty investments that must be protected from hackers and intruders in such a way as to allow it to contributes to the growth of these investments which boost and push the economic wheel forward.

CEO Al Shetwey concluded, "That is why we focus in this symposium on the protection of programs and applications, specially the programs which were developed in accordance with web technology? There will be two lectures for defining its importance because studies by OWASP have shown that Web applications infringements have got the lion's share or the equivalent of 75% of all infringements.
