Regional experts praise current transformation of Maghreb healthcare sector. Upcoming Maghreb Health Summit and Expo to welcome up to 1,400 sector professionals and end-users together with 40 global solution providers.

Algiers, April 14th 2013 -"The current healthcare climate in the Maghreb region, as in many other Middle East countries, is changing. This has a direct impact on health: rapid development, progressive urbanisation, decreased infant mortality, and increasing life expectancy," confirmed Professor Mourad ElMourad, Senior Advisor from the Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia.

Professor ElMourad is one of the many expert speakers at the upcoming 2nd Maghreb Health Summit and Expo, which will be held on June 11th and 12th in Algiers. Organised by French deal facilitation group naseba from their new office in Algiers, it is connecting regional and international sector leaders with local healthcare and Ministry of Health representatives. There will also be a two-day exhibition welcoming up to 1,400 sector professionals and end-users together with 40 global solution providers.

Despite economic and political challenges, the Maghreb region has invested substantially new healthcare solutions. In 2012, Algeria's GDP increased by 3.1 percent according to the World Bank. In fact, public investment for pharmaceuticals, hospitals construction and medical equipment rose from US$ 11.5 billion in 2012 to US$ 16 billion in 2013 with new hospitals being opened on a monthly basis.

Additionally, considerable oil and gas revenues have enabled Algeria's government to apply strong healthcare modernisation policies. Health services in and around the northern coast, which is the most densely populated area of the country, are considered the best in the country.

"Innovation in the health sector is crucial for diagnosis and treatment of patients. I would like to see more collaboration, with all sectors involved in healthcare working together for the sake of patients. Which emphasises the importance of the second Maghreb Health Summit, where recent research and share experiences can be shared and discussed among all influencers," added ElMourad.
