UAE, Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Classics, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, is thrilled to announce the first of its artists confirmed to perform for its eighth season; internationally renowned Camerata Salzburg Orchestra with violin virtuoso Renaud Capuçon and one of the most sought-after soloists in the world, French harpist Xavier de Maistre. The highly anticipated Abu Dhabi Classics new concert season of cultural harmony, will bring a dynamic and diverse programme of classical and traditional music to the Capital.
Dr. Ronald Perlwitz, Head of Music, Arts Department, Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said; “Abu Dhabi Classics has become a highlight in the Emirate’s cultural calendar, playing host to an incredible line up of internationally acclaimed classical musicians and artistic performances. The eighth season will offer residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience and enjoy the magical world of classical music and we look forward to welcoming audiences for the eighth season.”
The season will commence on Friday 12 October at the iconic Emirates Palace with a Mozart Violin Concerto by the prestigious Camerata Salzburg Orchestra with violin virtuoso Renaud Capuçon, one of the most fascinating living performers of this repertoire. Having performed together many times in the past, this will be the first time that they will perform the Mozart Violin Concertos 4 and 5 in addition to Satie’s Gnossiennes together in Abu Dhabi.
The evening will be completed by pieces from late 19th century, early 20th Century minimalist composer Erik Satie that influenced among other musical genres, Jazz music, and also Surrealism. Satie’s clear musical lines are also reminiscent of Rossini’s and Mozart’s music. Get ready for an evening with some of the most famous works of the Viennese Classical Period and of the New Music and appreciate not only the beauty of Classical music but also its permanence and evolution over the centuries.
The virtuoso of the highest order, French harpist Xavier de Maistre is scheduled for two captivating performances this season. His first performance is on Thursday 6 December at the arts and culture haven Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island and Friday 7 December at the historic Bin Hamoodah Fort, Al Ain.
For his first historic appearance in the UAE, Xavier de Maistre will play a programme inspired by Spanish Classical music, mixing impressionist and modernist accents by focusing on the French composers Debussy and Faure.
