Dubai, August 31, 2009: New students began their undergraduate experience at the University of Dubai (UD) with "BIDAYAAT," the New Student Orientation program. The one-day program was held on Thursday, August 27, 2009.

BIDAYAAT sessions began at 10:00 a.m. While students were on campus, they learned about academic majors, counseling, health, careers, registration, scholarships, dining, clubs and other support services. They received their UD identification badges and had the opportunity to purchase textbooks. In one of the sessions, they met with academic advisors and talked about courses and study plans.

"It is a good opportunity for students to get acquainted with the UD community, meet faculty and staff members and classmates and get their questions answered," said Farah Al Shaibani, coordinator of the New Student Orientation program.

BIDAYAAT sessions were open to all new students coming directly from high school, transferring from other universities and nontraditional students. Parents were encouraged to attend the event to understand their ward's transition to university life and familiarize themselves with the university.

This program has been organized by the Department of Student Services in collaboration with volunteer students, faculty and staff. For more information, kindly call 04- 2072674 or visit http://www.ud.ac.ae
