Isa Town, Bahrain -26 June 2011:  Engineering tutors and staff from Bahrain Polytechnic recently visited the Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Company (Garmco).  This was the second time Garmco has hosted the Bahrain Polytechnic staff and afforded them the opportunity of seeing the plant in operation. The visit forms part of the Bahrain Polytechnic's policy of enhancing their relationship and cooperation with the industry keeping engineering tutors aware and up to date with the latest technologies used in the industry.

Within every degree programme students and tutors at the Bahrain Polytechnic are required to involve themselves with the latest developments in different industries as part of their training and development programme to ensure their theoretical education is balanced with practical application.

To this end, Bahrain Polytechnic created special problem-based Learning Curriculum Advisory Committees with leading private and public sector institutions - such as Gramco - to ensure its programmes deliver relevant knowledge and skills to its students. The main aim of these committees is to establish strong and mutually-beneficial ties with different companies in industries while exposing engineering tutors to engineering processes. As part of this collaboration, a number of initiatives have been set up such as work placement programmes for Bahrain Polytechnic engineering students.

Students are continuously trained in the latest world-class techniques and engage with business and industry sectors in the Kingdom to ensure that Bahraini graduates meet real-life future job market demands.
