The Arabic version of Smurfs: The Lost Village, which released over the weekend, features prominent TV personality Rabi Abirached, who voices Smurf Willow, voiced by Julia Roberts in the English version.

The animated film, an all-new take on the Smurfs, follows Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty as they set out on a race through the Forbidden Forest filled with creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does.

The film’s English version also features the voices of Demi Lovato, Mandy Patinkin, Ariel Winter, Michelle Rodriguez, Jack McBraver, Danny Pudi, Joe Manganiello, Rainn Wilson and Ellie Kemper.

Abirached, who hosts TV talent show Arabs Got Talent as well as her own show, Scoop with Raya, said: “I am extremely enthused to be part of the exceptional team, from artists to producers, who shared the common goal of recreating this movie into something the Arabic audiences will surely love. As a mother, an avid theatre goer and a Smurfs fan myself, I understand the need for more Arabised content and so to be able to contribute to filling this need in the market is such an honour.”

Smurfs: The Lost Village is now showing in the UAE.
