DOHA: Qatar’s Foreign Merchandise trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and imports, reached a surplus of QR8.8bn in September 2016 showing a rise of QR0.2bn or 1.8 percent compared to August this year.

The trade balance has declined by QR3.1bn or 25.8 percent compared to September 2015. The total exports of goods in September this year (including exports of goods of domestic origin and re-exports) amounted to around QR17.1bn, showing a decrease of 18.4 percent compared to September last year.

The imports of goods in September amounted to around QR8.3bn, showing decrease of 8.8 percent over September 2015. However, on a month on month basis the imports decreased by 11.7 percent.

Japan was at the top of the countries of destination of Qatar’s exports with close to QR3.2bn, followed by South Korea with almost QR2.6bn and India with about QR2.3bn.
