Orascom Development Holding said on Sunday that it has laid the foundation stone for its 38-acre integrated sports and social club, located within its O West City project in Western Cairo.

O West City’s CEO Tarek Kamel told Zawya Projects that the club is being developed at an investment of 800 million pounds ($51 million).

“Construction of the O West club will start in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will be completed by 2024,” he said.

The club includes a football stadium, a swimming pool complex, tennis courts and a Padel sport facility.

Kamel said that club currently has a subscriber base of 1,760.

“By March 2022, the company will decide if it will manage the club on its own or appoint a contractor for the same,” he said.

Omar Al Hammamsi, CEO of Orascom Development Holdings, added: "We believe that Egypt has all the potential of experienced, competent administrators and a bank of young talent that needs to be discovered, cared for and developed to build generations of professional champions to compete in international sports tournaments."

O West City is spread over an area of 1,000 acres in 6th of October City. The project includes five international schools, hotels, a 10,000 square metre health care centre, and a 240,000 sqm commercial area.
