Riyadh – Mubasher: The board of the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat), chaired by the acting Minister of Economy and Planning Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Jadaan, has decided to appoint Konrad Pesendorfer as President of the authority.

According to a statement by GaStat, Pesendorfer will lead alongside the authority’s leaders of national calibres the development and governance of statistical work. In order to achieve the targets of transforming GaStat into a statistics authority, as per the international standards, that is capable of acting its role and duties as it peers in the G20 countries and based on the best standards of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The authority’s decision comes in the context of its efforts to achieve the strategic goals of Saudi Arabia’s National Strategy for Statistical Development, approved by the cabinet in 2019, to enhance and develop statistical work in the kingdom, ensuring the sustainability of its main role of providing information and accurate statistical data on time for researchers, decision-makers, and investors.
