A child under the age of ten or less than 145cm found sitting in a car's front seat can cost the driver a Dh400 fine, said Abu Dhabi Police.

Abu Dhabi Police have launched an awareness campaign informing parents and drivers about the risks of letting young children sit in the front seats of vehicles.

In a recent tweet, they stressed the importance of the drivers committing to having car seats installed for child passengers.

Studies have shown that the impact force a child could experience in an unrestrained seat is equivalent to that of a fall from 10 meters. A car seat would ensure their safety and security in the event of an accident, Abu Dhabi Police affirmed.
