His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s presidency led the way to grant and treat students in the field of education. Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, directed to allocate scholarships for children of Emirati mothers at the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, in various scientific and academic disciplines at the university.

With the interest of the university in implementing the directions of rational leadership, the scholarship for Emirati students will include fees for the bachelor’s programmes for children of Emirati mothers and retroactively. The scholarship will also cover the foundation year fees of the programme if required. This decision comes to give children of Emirati mothers the opportunity to obtain bachelor degrees in a way that ensures that they enjoy the best educational opportunities in the state as one of the components of the social fabric and one of its basic pillars.

In March 2018, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was directed to allocate a grant to Emirati students currently studying at the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi to cover tuition fees in undergraduate programmes. The scholarship also includes citizens who will be enrolled in the university in the future, in order to ensure that the nation’s children will be equipped with the best skills, excellence in the scientific, epistemic and intellectual qualifications and expertise in prestigious universities.

 His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said, “His Highness the President of the State and the directives of His Highness, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi provide higher education and opportunities for the children of Emirati mothers through the scholarships in this prestigious university, proving that the person who lives in the United Arab Emirates is the focus of a commendable and good relationship.”

His Excellency added, “This prodigious initiative from the wise leadership confirms keenness on the necessity of the children of Emirati mothers and their participation in the improvement of the society and contributing to support the development process in the UAE, its continued success and its advancement.”
