JEDDAH — The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced that it will implement by June 6 its new policy of extending improved services to travelers, Al-Hayat newspaper reported.

GACA’s Safety and Security Department Customer Protection Directorate reported that the authority prioritizes the rights and comfort of travelers. The authority has established a directorate to protect customer rights and ensure compensation in instances of flight delays and cancellations.

The directorate also protects the rights of disabled customers and ensures that they are provided with necessary equipment and services when traveling. The new policies were presented to directors of all airports in a workshop in preparation for their implementation.

GACA is the first in the civil aviation authority in the Arab world to put in place policies to protect the rights of consumers. Other Arab countries can now refer to the policy document of the authority as a model for their customer protection protocols.

The GACA directorate communicates between the customer and the service provider regardless of whether it is a national or international operator. It directorate receives complaints from all travelers passing through Saudi airports.
