Manama: Tender bids will soon be invited for the 100 megawatt solar power plant to be built in Bahrain in partnership by the private sector.

The project followed directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier during the recent Government Forum 2017.

The project is part of the government-led efforts to promote sustainable development and diversify sources of energy, said Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza.

He pointed out that bids would be invited by February next year, adding that the plant would be operating by late 2019.
