JEDDAH: US actress Lindsay Lohan has said she wants to be part of the “incredible” social reforms movement currently underway in Saudi Arabia.
The “Mean Girls” star tweeted a New York Times article about the lifting of a ban on cinemas, concerts and women’s driving in Saudi Arabia, and wrote: “Please support this incredible #movement … I look forward to being a part of this with the movie #FRAMETHEMOVIE.”
While Lohan’s fans welcomed her tweet, some were left perplexed with the hashtagged words, which they guessed was the name of a new movie.
“IS THIS A NEW MOVIE ANNOUNCEMENT!?” asked a fan.
Another fan, Daniel Wayne wrote: “I’m ready for your comeback.”

International and Middle Eastern cinema chains are eager to expand into the Kingdom following the historic decision, which will allow movie theaters to operate from early 2018.
On Tuesday, giant US cinema chain AMC Entertainment signed a deal to build and operate movie theaters in the country.
The country is expected to have more than 300 cinemas — with over 2,000 screens — by 2030, giving rise to an industry that would contribute $24 billion to the economy, according to the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information.
