President of the Arab Institute for Human Rights (AIHR), Abdelbasset Ben Hassan, announced on Friday the launch of an initiative called "space of citizenship", in Essaida neighbourhood in Tunis.

The initiative consists in developing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Relations with the Constitutional Authorities, Civil Society and Human Rights, of a training and learning space dedicated to young people.

At a news conference given at the headquarters of the AIHR “Dar Essaïda” on Friday, Ben Hassan explained that the aim of this initiative is to involve children and young people from working-class neighbourhoods in a kind Cultural mutation "of their neighbourhoods.

It also aims to integrate them, in the best way, into society, he added, adding that experience will be generalised later in the interior regions of the country.

Minister of Relations with Constitutional Authorities, Civil Society and Human Rights Mehdi Ben Gharbia explained that the human rights system is not restricted to pacts, charters and other Conventions, but should rather be directly linked to citizens, in particular the most disadvantaged social categories and who are the most vulnerable to extremism and terrorism.
