Russian firefighter dies tackling blaze at Lukoil oilfield

19 people had been deployed to fight the fire at a sludge dump

  

MOSCOW- A firefighter has died while tackling a blaze at an oilfield owned by Russian oil producer Lukoil, a spokeswoman for the emergencies ministry said on Tuesday.

She said that 19 people had been deployed to fight the fire at a sludge dump in the Komi Republic in northwest Russia. The fire has since been extinguished.
