French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced on Wednesday new measures to help French motorists cope with high petrol pump prices, which Borne said would amount to savings of around 100 euros for each person who could qualify for this.

Borne said this would essentially result in people being able to get 100 euros paid into their bank account, as a one-off payment in 2023.

She also said this latest aid measure would cost the French state around 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion).
