Technip Energies has bagged a contract to upgrade sulfur recovery facilities at Saudi Aramco’s Riyadh refinery, the France-based engineering and technology company said in a statement.

The contract covers implementing three new tail gas treatment units, which will improve the performance of the existing three sulfur recovery units to comply with more stringent sulfur emissions regulations. Hence, the recovery efficiency will reach more than 99.9%.

The statement said the project will be executed by leveraging Saudi economic resources and infrastructure.

The value and duration of the contract were not disclosed.

Technip Energies had designed the existing sulfur recovery units in the refinery in the early 2000s.
