Kuwait has agreed to fund the construction of four new cities in the North Central Saladin Governorate to provide housing for citizens made homeless by the war, Saladin's governor was quoted on Monday as saying.
Kuwait's Emir Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah has ordered the government to finance the project, which comprises four cities in the governorate north of the capital Baghdad, Ammar Jaber said, quoted by the Iraqi network Shafaq News.
He said Kuwait's cabinet would form a committee to oversee such projects, which are part of a post-war reconstruction programme that will be supported through the annual Iraqi budgets and funds committed by participants at an international donor conference held in Kuwait in early 2018.
