Iraq has launched a project to rebuild three key hotels and nearly 400 houses that were damaged during the war in the Northern Mosul city more than three years ago, the official Iraqi Alsabah newspaper reported on Monday.
Companies affiliated to the Construction and Housing Ministry are undertaking the project, which is funded by the Reconstruction Fund for Areas Affected by Terrorist Operations, the paper said, quoting Nineveh Governor Najm Jabouri.
He said the three damaged hotels in Mosul, the capital of Nineveh, are Mosul, Al-Madina and Ashur, adding that the 400 houses to be reconstructed are within the 8th batch of Mosul properties to be rehabilitated after the end of the hostilities.
Iraqi officials have said Mosul, which was occupied by terror groups for at least two years, was the worst hit by the war, with estimated rebuilding costs of more than $40 billion.
