Iraq has approved 109 billion dinars ($90 million) for projects involving the construction of houses and other facilities in Baghdad and the Southern Basra city, the country's Planning Minister was quoted on Tuesday as saying.

Nouri Al-Dulaimi said the Ministry allocated around $72 million for the building of nearly 1,000 houses in Basra as part of its petrodollar allocations.

The allocations also included nearly $18 million for the expansion of Baghdad's water sewage networks including the building of new sewage units, Dulaimi added.

"These funds are part of the state's investment budget allocations for the country's governorates," he added.
