Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) announced  the signing of an agreement to supply blue ammonia to Taiwan Fertiliser Company (TFC), the first ever commercial shipment to Taiwan.

The announcement, dated 8 March, was made on the company’s official twitter account. Additional details weren't shared but Taipei-headquartered TFC is a producer of various types of fertilisers and chemical products, according to the company website.

Germany-based testing, inspection and certification agency TUV Rheinland has accredited 138,000 tonnes of blue ammonia for Ma'aden, according to a Zawya Projects report in November 2022.

At the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Forum 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022, Ma'aden confirmed that it will export its first shipment of blue ammonia of 25,000 tonnes to South Korea. In October 2022, South Korean media had reported that Lotte Fine Chemical, a unit of Lotte Group, will import 25,000 tonnes of blue ammonia from Maaden and another 25,000 tonnes from SABIC in the world's first commercial blue ammonia supply deal certified by TUV Rheinland.
