Infrastructure projects in China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Zone, a bilateral project between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in the Khalifa Industrial Zone in Abu Dhabi will be completed by mid-2023, China’s official Xinhua news agency reported.

The Zone is intended to cater to high-end manufacturing, new energy, fine chemicals, warehousing and logistics, metal processing industries.

The report said construction began in May 2018, with a start-up area of 2.2 square kilometres. Completed facilities include park management service centre, customised factory buildings, living service area and an internal road and pipe network measuring 8.5 km, and 80,000 square metres of buildings

Nine Chinese enterprises have officially signed up for the zone, with one company starting production [Superview Metals Manufacturing Industry] and another [Origin Space] is due to launch operations soon, the report said. Six companies will establish their regional headquarters or trading businesses in the zone.
