Dubai – Viu, PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT video streaming service, is pleased to have been awarded the Audience Choice Award at the Toronto Lift Off Film Festival 2021 for its documentary film I’m Determined. The film produced by Viu captures the lives of children and young adults of determination in the UAE.  

The film offers viewers a different perspective about people of determination by exploring positive aspects and creates awareness by highlighting the challenges that need to be addressed. Directed by Mohammad Faizan and edited by Tushar Madhav, a national award-winning filmmaker from India, the documentary aims to make a difference by sharing incredible stories.

Commenting on the win, Mohammad Faizan, said, “It was very heartwarming to hear about the award, especially since not many films from the UAE make it to festivals as such. This film is one of several I have directed which made it to the big screens at international film festivals. The award encourages more of indie filmmakers in the region to produce films around subjects that we are passionate about. As a filmmaker, I believe that movies are meant to entertain and empower people at the same time. I truly hope that my film does that by reaching various audiences across the world. Winning the Audience Choice Award at The Toronto Lift Off Film Festival is just the beginning.”

It delves into the lives of children and young adults who are rocking their chromosomes, no matter how they are sequenced. These people of determination make you believe that whether it's down syndrome, autism or epilepsy, nothing can stop them from what they want to achieve.
