Abu Dhabi: The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is set to lead a delegation of the emirate’s leading hotels, attractions, tour operators and destination companies to ITB Berlin – one of the world’s largest tourism trade fairs. The event will take place from 6th – 10th March at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.

The delegation of 48 partners and stakeholders will head to Europe to promote the Emirate’s tourism credentials and build on the record numbers of visitors to Abu Dhabi, which last year numbered more than 10 million. Through participating in ITB Berlin, DCT Abu Dhabi receives one of its widest annual platforms to network with key industry representatives.

The Abu Dhabi stand at the fair will see the UAE Embassy in Germany hosting a reception event on the opening day. In addition, the second day will see the DCT stand host the Golden City Gate Awards as well as the annual ‘Touristik PR & Medien Award 2019’, which are organised by SRT, a publishing house which publishes the yearly handbooks ‘Touristik PR’ and ‘Touristik Media’. These handbooks are the go-to publications for the tourism industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and the event, which will include the attendance of the UAE’s Ambassador to Germany H.E. Ali Abdulla Al Ahmed, will see awards handed out for Best Tourism PR Agency, Best Tourism Board, Best Travel Blog, Best Travel Editorial Office and Best Travel Journalist.

The delegation will include representatives from national airline Etihad Airways, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Experience Hub, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The Abu Dhabi stand will gather extensive partners from the emirate, including approximately 37 hotels, such as Jumeirah Al Wathba, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island, Fairmont Marina and Abu Dhabi Edition.

DCT Abu Dhabi is planning to highlight the Special Olympics World Games, which is running between 14 and 21 March in Abu Dhabi, sharing the impact of the event with the global attendees assembled at ITB Berlin.
