Dubai: Since its launch in June 2004, the Postcard Millionaire Campaign has successfully crossed cultural boundaries drawing people from different communities. To celebrate the campaign's multi-cultural appeal the Global Village has been selected as the venue for the sixth draw, to be held on January 31.
The January 31 electronic draw for 10 cash prizes and a Mercedes ML 350 will feature an hour-long entertainment show with performances by various UAE artistes. The audience will be able to instantly see the winning numbers picked on large screens set up at the venue, and also to celebrate the good fortune of the most recent winners in the campaign.
Abdel Ghaffar Qamhieh, Salim Fawzan Salim Alhammadi, Jabar Ali and Mohammed Musa, join a growing list of people whose lives have been impacted by the Postcard Millionaire Campaign.
Since mid-November, Abdel Ghaffar, chief accountant at an Abu Dhabi based company bought over 15 postcard packs[s2] . One of the packs held ticket number 1735820, which was picked during the fifth draw held on December 16 making Mr. Qamhieh, a Jordanian, richer by AED 500,000. "This win comes at an opportune time. I am getting married in summer and some of the money will go towards the celebration. I will also give my mother some of the money as a way of thanking her for all that she has done for my brothers and me. The rest I will invest," said Mr. Qamhieh.
A custom inspector at the Sharjah Airport, Salim Fawzan Salim Alhammadi , bought four postcard packs from the Sharjah Post Office. Mr. Fawzan, a national and father of five, found out about his win through the Postcard Millionaire hotline - 600 5 665 665. His ticket number 5529794 won him AED 150,000 in the fifth draw. "This money will allow me to build a mosque in memory of my late wife and repay some of my debts," said Mr. Fawzan.
Jabar Ali, a Pakistani, arrived in Dubai in November to explore opportunities to set up his business. While commuting between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, he bought six postcard packs from Postcard Millionaire salespeople, one of which held the number 6749792 which was picked during the third draw on September 30, 2004. Apart from his AED 10,000 win, Mr. Ali also became an instant winner when the Scratch & Win part of his ticket revealed that he won AED 250. "I came to the UAE to look at the option of starting my own business, I can now start my own business sooner that I had expected thanks to my winning," said an estatic Mr. Ali.
A driver with a Dubai-based transportation company, Mohammed Musa from Bangaldesh had seen many people buy the Postcard Millionaire postcard packs at the Sharjah Post Office before he decided to buy a few for himself. One of them held ticket number 0817131 which won him AED 25,000. The number was drawn during the third draw of the Postcard Millionaire Campaign in Sharjah on September 30, 2004. "This win has changed my life for the better. I can now think of starting a small auto electrical business," he said.
The January 31 draw offers postcard pack holders a chance to win a Mercedes ML 350 and 10 cash prizes. This includes the top cash prize of AED 500,000, followed by AED 150,000, AED 50,000, two AED 25,000 prizes and five AED 10,000 cash prizes. Tourists and non-residents who win the first (AED 500,000) or second (Mercedes ML 350) prizes will be flown to Dubai to receive their prize.
As all numbers of the postcard packs available in the market are automatically entered into every draw, each postcard pack, bought before or after the draw date, has the potential to contain a winning number - as was the case with Mr. Ali and Mr. Musa who bought their postcard packs after the September 30 draw. All tickets are eligible to be drawn over the duration of the Postcard Millionaire Campaign.
Postcard Millionaire packs are available at all Emirates Post post-offices and through its subsidiary company Empost, select EPPCO ENOC petrol stations, and retailers such as Al Safeer Group, Jacky's Electronics, JVC-Oasis Enterprises, UAE Exchange, Wall Street Exchange, Al Razouki Exchange, City Exchange, Al Habib Exchange, Choithrams, Giant Supermarkets, Al Maya Lal's, Fathima and Families Supermarkets and all Emarat petrol stations.
Information on winning ticket numbers can be found on the Postcard Millionaire website (www.postcardmillionaire.com) and is available through a five-language hotline - 600 5 665 665.
