NEC Computers has introduced a new desktop to its POWERMATE range, which offers business users increased manageability by integrating Intel vPro technology. The launch ensures NEC Computers is the first manufacturer to market a business PC integrating Intel vPro technology.Designed for the business user the NEC POWERMATE ML460 offers a unique, slimline chassis which is extremely discreet and offers powerful performance from an Intel chipset capable of accommodating Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
vPro Intel Technology Provides Improved Manageability
NEC's POWERMATE ML460 features Intel vPro Technology with the Intel Q965 chipset. iAMT technology (Intel Active Management Technology) provides reliable management and increases the ease of support of large corporate computer networks. Network administrators are able to manage all workstations remotely whether they are switched off or on, including emergency repairs and control & asset tracking. Additional LANDesk software will allow further access to computers connected to the network at any time and perform remote updates (security patches or virus definitions). iAMT technology also enables machines to be cold started.
Virtualisation Technology
Intel Virtualisation Technology (VT) also provides the option of isolating a network station if it is infected by a virus. This is done by immediately quarantining user sessions, during which time the PC continues to maintain a communication channel with the network - a protected channel that only enables it to be rebooted remotely or to install patches and other security updates that may be necessary.
Powerful Business PC
Consuming as little as half of the electricity of previous generation processors, the Intel Core 2 Duo provides improved performance at a lower cost, ensuring the best balance between performance and Total Cost of Ownership. Windows Vista Premium ready and boasting dual channel DDR2, the NEC POWERMATE ML460 is an exceptional multi-tasker which integrates the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 video controller with up to 256Mb shared video memory.
Unique and discreet chassis
The NEC POWERMATE ML460 also introduces NEC's new Small Form Factor chassis. Based around Pico-BTX technology, the ML460's chassis is among the smallest on the market (9L).
Designed for easy integration in offices by occupying the minimum amount of space, the chassis is also simple to dismantle for easy maintenance and has a handy, full height PCI slot.
Key features include:
Easy configuration: NEC's customised production according to individual corporate requirements.
Simple, fast deployment and maintenance: with a base warranty of 3-years on-site NDB, aftersales support is of 'Gold' quality as standard. The dedicated support and maintenance centre ensures customers with NEC hardware can sleep easy.
Enhanced security: ...with the chassis' complete security system (Kensington security slot, antitheft ring, anti-intrusion button, optional electro-magnetic lock) and data security solution (optional biometric scanner, and more). It may also be equipped with software security solutions (NEC Managed Antivirus, Stormshield behavioural analysis application, data encryption and Safeboot access control).
Environmental policy
Protection and respect for the environment are fundamental values in Japan. The NEC Group is renowned for being a front runner among the manufacturers of computer equipment in terms of its implementation of environmental measures. Like the entire POWERMATE range, the PowerMate ML460 also complies with this approach by limiting the impact on the environment during the manufacture and utilisation of its products. NEC Computers has followed the Japanese approach to the implementation of environmental management policies by adopting the "Eco Label" programme in Europe in 1998, and implementing a system covering the entire life cycle of the product at the beginning of 2006, called "3R", which stands for Reduction, Reutilisation and Recycling. The arrival of the new Small Form Factor complies with these aspects, making it easy to recycle and to dismantle at the end of its useful life.
Very discreet and economical, the level of noise produced by the NEC POWERMATE ML460 is barely audible thanks to a pBTX motherboard that features an advanced cooling system. This lowtemperature airflow allows improved ventilation of the components and therefore a lowered electrical consumption.
