Owing to the currently booming construction and building industry, Al-Futtaim Auto and Machinery Company (FAMCO), the exclusive distributor for Volvo Trucks, Buses and Construction Equipment in the UAE and a member of the Al-Futtaim Group of companies, recently announced that Dubai Readymix Concrete, a reputed name in the construction industry for ready mixed concrete, has acquired a fleet of Volvo FM Transit Mixer Trucks.

Dubai Readymix Concrete took delivery of the first consignment of Volvo FM Transit Mixer Trucks earlier this month and FAMCO will deliver the second consignment shortly.

The construction industry in the UAE is currently thriving and dominates the construction project investment in the Middle East with nearly 60 percent of the total project value. At the end of October 2005, construction projects underway in the GCC, Iran and Iraq had reached US$293.5 billion. Of this, the UAE had US$176 billion while the remaining US$117.5 billion was shared among the seven other Gulf nations

The new versatile Volvo FM Transit Mixer trucks exclusively being distributed by FAMCO in the UAE are equipped with the powerful new D13 Euro III engine developing 400 horse power and 2000 Newton meters of torque. Offering more scope than before, the Volvo FM Transit Mixer truck achieves a high standard of quality with respect to safety and comfort for the operator. The trucks supplied to Dubai Readymix Concrete are equipped with a clutch independent PTO enabling the driver to run the mixer unit directly from the truck engine.

'Although we have used Volvo Transit Mixer trucks along with other brands in the past, we decided to go ahead with Volvo again primarily because of the superior quality and reliability of the machines. Coupled with this is the fact that we receive top-notch after sales service and the Volvo guarantee of genuine spare parts,' said Haider Abidi, General Manager, Dubai Readymix Concrete.

Dubai Readymix Concrete has been using Volvo machines from its inception and has one of the largest fleet of transit mixer trucks in the market. The company's clients include Al Moosa, AF Carillion, Al Habtoor, and Al Shafa General Construction.
